Ralph Giordano
Internationally renowned author and publicist Ralph Giordano, with members of the Jüdisshe Gemeinde Hameln on a recent visit to the congregation.
Dear Members, Friends, and Supporters,

The last winter month is over and our congregation looks forward to spring with it's promise of renewal.
Our congregation experienced many special moments last month. To mention a few highlights:
The 1st Bat Mitzvah in Hameln since the war was celebrated by Inna Golbereg. Mazel Tov Inna and family! We honor Inna's Bat Mitzvah project. Inna collected money, beginning with her own contribution of 18 DM, for a plaque on our Tree of Life in memory of the 6 Million murdered Jews of Europe. The plaque is being made and 120 DM was collected to pay for it.
A lovely afternoon was celebrated in honor of International Women's Day with Russian/Israeli poet, Viktor Gin.
Survivor and German-Jewish author Ralf Giordano visited our congregation and members enjoyed an informal dialogue with him.
We offered a beautiful musical evening to a full sanctuary with French cantor Francois Lilienfeld, vocals and accordion, our own Rebekka Dohme, vocals and Margret Heckmann on piano.

30th International Conference of World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ)
The WUPJ held it's 30th international conference in Washington, DC from March 13th to 18th. The WUPJ represents 1.6 million Jews in 46 countries around the world. Our congregation and national organization, Union for progressive Jews of Germany, Austria and Switzerland which represents 13 Reform congregations in those countries,

JGH was prominently displayed at the German Progressive Congregations’ booth at the WUPJ Conference in Washinton.
is an affiliate of the WUPJ. Over 300 delegates from 15 countries attended the conference. Our congregation was represented by Rachel Dohme. Rachel held a seminar about the development of the Reform congregations of the Union along with Lauren Rid of Munich and Deborah Tal-Reuttger of Gudensberg. R. Dohme also addressed the European Region of the WUPJ, describing the achievements & challenges faced here. The delegates showed great interest in our work in Germany. The European Region promised more support for our congregations.

JEWISH APPLESEED FOUNDATION
Rabbi Jo David prepared materials for the Union and our congregation which were decimated at the conference and at several pre-conference presentations at synagogues in the NYC area. Materials developed and produced were a brochure of the Union congregations, a pamphlet about our congregation and the Jewish Appleseed Foundation (JAF) , Tzedakah boxes for JAF and our congregation and a mouse pad for our congregation. The mouse pads are available for $10.00 each and the money raised goes to the Synagogue building fund. The money from the Tzedakah boxes also goes to the building fund. Anyone wishing materials should contact Rabbi Jo David at SoulGal@aol.com or call her at+1 212 249 0799.
We thank Rabbi David and JAF for their generous support in our congregation's development. Through JAF's creative ideas and support, Jüdische Gemeinde Hameln will thrive!
Each congregational member will receive their own Tzedakah box for home use. In this way, we will help ourselves and be able to realize our dream of building a permanent home for ourselves in Hameln.

PESACH SEDER
Pesach is April 7–15. We will celebrate with a community Seder on April 7th. V. Pesok will lead the Seder and it will cost 7 DM per person. Reservations are accepted until April 4th.
